Accidents
happen. Or perhaps you just forgot? Sometimes
people are just silly. If
you have had unprotected sex - you've forgotten
to take your pill/the condom split/you didn't
use anything - then there is something to
fall back on. It's called emergency contraception.
It is important to remember it is only for
emergencies, a last resort. There are two
kinds:
Emergency
contraceptive pills - you need to take these
within 72 hours. (It is often called the
"morning after" pill which is
misleading.) An
IUD (a coil) which must be fitted within
five days.
So
be quick! You can get them free from your
GP, a young persons clinic, hospital A&E
departments or a family planning clinic.
It is also available through the school
nurse in some schools - even if you are
under 16.
