| Injecting is one of the most dangerous ways of taking drugs because of the risk of overdose and infection. Sharing drug taking equipment (works), even pots of water, is one of the most common ways of spreading diseases, especially Hepatitis C and HIV (which causes AIDS). These are both serious illnesses which require long-term treatment. Treatments may or may not be successful in managing the illness. Hepatitis C may ultimately be cured, whilst HIV can never be cured. Heroin is a particularly dangerous drug, due to the way it is injected. |
