This drug is also known as GBH, Liquid ecstasy, Blue Nitro, Midnight Blue, Serenity, Enliven.

GHB has been reclassified and is now a Class C Drug. The maximum penalty for possession with intent to supply is 5 years in prison. The maximum penalty for possession is 2 years in prison.

What it looks like:

It is a colourless liquid and is sold in small bottles or capsules. It has no smell but has a salty taste.

Apparent Positive Effects:


  • It can produce a feeling of euphoria and has a relaxing effect. This
    can last as long as a day.


The Downside:

  • It is very disabling and is increasingly used to sexually assault
    someone.

  • The victim is unable to resist and often has no memory of the event.

  • It can lead to sickness, stiff muscles, fits and even collapse.

  • It can badly burn the mouth.

  • It is very dangerous and can be fatal if mixed with other drugs including
    alcohol.


THE RISK OF THESE DRUGS BEING USED AS A MEANS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IS VERY REAL. THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES MAY HELP PROTECT YOU:

  • Don´t accept opened drinks from strangers or people you don´t
    trust.

  • If you feel odd, sick or very drunk after only a couple of drinks,
    leave immediately and go to a safe place.

  • If you are alone or with a stranger, call friends and tell them where
    you are.
