Barbiturates are man-made drugs and were originally developed for medical use. Doctors used to prescribe them for people who couldn´t sleep, were depressed or anxious. However, there were so many deaths from overdosing that they are no longer used.
This is a class B drug.

Barbs, Downers, Blues, Reds and Sekkies.

There are many different types of barbs. They usually come in tablet form, but can also come as ampoules, suppositories, capsules or syrup.

- Produces a drunken effect
The Downside: - Significant risk of overdose. A lethal dose is not much different from a normal dose.
- Users quickly develop tolerance and become dependent quickly
- Withdrawal symptoms are severe, and include irritability, nervousness, insomnia, fainting, vomiting, twitching, delirium and convulsions. Sudden withdrawal can result in death.
